Time…where do you find it?
Let me start by saying I adore my kids and think they’re just the best. And let me end by saying, I’m pretty close to losing my mind around last minute items that have to be addressed right now.
The last minute supplies for a school project.
A gift card or a quick Target run for the birthday party that appeared out of thin air.
The bottle of face wash/deodorant/shampoo that has been unknowingly getting lower and lower until it’s empty and needs replacing asap.
You get the picture.
And I think what drives me the most crazy about it, is that somehow, I end up finding the time to help address this last minute need. Even when my day or week looked like zero wiggle room to manage these unexpected needs.
And yes, to all the natural consequences and making them wait until it’s more timely for me to help. And yes, sometimes the deodorant has to wait a week and they may end up being the smelly kid in PE.
But the part that really makes me pause is how/why am I able to find the time when it really felt like none of it existed before? And why do other things that mean a whole lot more, like a meal out with my husband or family dinner around the table seem impossible to get on the calendar?
If there is time for the project supplies and the last-minute birthday gifts, then there is certainly time in my calendar to better prioritize the stuff that really matters.
So, my goal for the week is to look at my calendar and get more of the important stuff on it. To stop using the shortage of spare time as the reason for why the stuff I say I want to happen isn’t happening. In essence, I’m going to find the time instead of waiting for the right time.
Who’s with me? Take the time to look at your calendar this week…really look at it and make the time for the stuff you want to happen and stop waiting for the right time to magically appear.
We got this.
