Highs and the lows
We did it! My family spent 2 weeks on the road together and we all lived to tell about it. We spent countless days navigating new sites, too many nights squished into hotel rooms together and only got on each other’s nerves a handful of times.
One of the coolest parts of the trips was that even though there were some highs and lows, we kept rebounding. We found a way to get a few good night’s sleep to adjust our outlooks, took the time to say sorry when needed and moved right along.
Look, I’m human. I get grumpy and my patience runs thin. But one thing I hope I’m never above is the ability to recognize my shortcomings (or my bad moods) so that I can clean it up a bit once I’ve come back to rational thinking.
There is nothing I’m more appreciative of than the folks I do life with letting me be me. Human, flawed and imperfect. And my hope is they deeply know that I let them be that way too. That they can mess up, say things out of turn and then take a moment to repair and on we go.
Life is never going to be all ups and lord knows traveling together for 14 days together can bring out some downs, but it’s all in how you recover. The more you make room for do overs or humanness, the easier it becomes to make it better with a slowed down moment of reconnection.
In this season of adventure, I hope you find ways to celebrate the highs and manage the lows in all the most human ways possible.
Until next week,
-A
P.S. If you’re struggling with repairs and reconnecting, simply reply to this email so that we can chat more. I may have some tools to offer to help healing and inspire reconnection.
