Not so great days are ok

We live in an age of positive self talk, positive growth, positive mindsets.  And I think all of that is well….positive.  It’s much better to speak kindness to ourselves (and others) than to fill our minds with destructive or degrading thoughts.  It’s better to move forward rather than backward.  And it’s certainly better to look at the glass half full.

But what happens when the spot we’re in isn’t so great and you feel less than positive?  What happens if all this talk about needing to be positive feels less like support and more like you’re being dismissed??

The truth is, you’re allowed to have not so great days.  You’re allowed to feel bad without being made to feel bad about it.

As humans, we crave connection and long for authenticity.  If you’re feeling not so great…and can allow those days to be just what they are…you are likely to find more comfort and connection then if you try to plaster on a smile and grimace your way through it.

When you allow your people to see and experience you exactly where you’re at, you are likely to feel more supported than if you had ‘forced’ yourself to just be positive.

Trust me, positive days will appear again.  But in the meantime if you’re having a hard day…or a hard season…there’s space for that too.

You’re not alone.
