Sometimes it just is

Both my kids tend to be overthinkers…for better or worse they got it from me. And as much as it can be helpful to look at things from multiple angles and explore other perspectives…the darker side of overthinking creates a lot of anxious ‘what if’ scenarios.  And the tendency to place a value on situations.  Declaring them all good or all bad.   The ol’ black and white assessment of things that rarely ends up being the whole story.

The truth is, not everything is good OR bad.  Not everything is right OR wrong.

Sometimes it just is.

Sometimes your day is just a day…not a good or a bad one.

Sometimes your mood is just your mood…not a positive or a foul one.

Sometimes your situation is just your situation…not an exceptional or terrible one.

And sometimes it just is.

There is great importance in the ability to step back from your own overthinking and overanalysis to just let it be as it is.

You will likely not have all of the answers when you’re deep in the emotion of it.  And you’ll likely need to gain some perspective to be able to determine what your next step needs to be…if any.

And sometimes you need to remind yourself that it just is.

Giving yourself the gift of time and grounding to work through something versus trying to overthink yourself through a situation that simply is.

If you’re finding yourself in a season of heavy emotions or greater worry, don’t be afraid to offer yourself the reassurance that sometimes it just is and that you have the ability to wade through it.

I’m cheering you on.
