Showing Up
I’m a big believer that showing up for each other is one of the most understated connectors in a relationship. Showing up to the big events in life is important but so is showing up to the smaller and quieter moments.
Showing up with a hug after a hard day.
Showing up to cheer from the sidelines as they do the things they love.
Showing up to learn more about the random interest they have regardless of my true level of understanding or interest in it too.
Showing up to ask the follow up questions and care after an emotional conversation.
It sounds simple but showing up takes consistency and intentionality. Because it’s not just about physically being there, it’s about the emotional presence that comes with actually showing up.
And those of you that have experienced an important person not showing up consistently or at all, you know the importance of this in your life and your relationships.
So today, on a day to celebrate Dads…take the time to show some love to the one that shows up for you. And know that you always have the ability to get better and more consistent in showing up for those that you do life with.
Happy Father’s Day to all those Dads out there that show up every way possible for their branch of the family tree.
Until next week,
~ A
